When it comes to curating, planning and finding that wow factor for our personal/brand Instagram pages, sometimes we all need a bit of a nudge in the right direction. Not all the new and recommended social media apps are going to be the be all and end all for you. You will need to find the one that works for YOU, whether that’s scheduling stories to keep you more consistent with posting or helping with the design layout of your stories to be consistently “on fleek”. In order to find these hidden gems, you will have to play around, do some research and experiment...

Luckily, we have done the nitty gritty part for you. If you have used any of these or trying them out for the first time, we would LOVE to know what you think of them or how they have helped you? Lastly, if we have left any off the list that you think need to be added, we would love to know.

Here they are:

1.     Unfold

This is a MUST if you are wanting to create Instagram story templates. Clean layouts and customisable fonts with a minimalistic approach is what Unfold offers. This is also a great app to use for storytelling as you can create multiple pages that save together. New templates are also constantly being updated to the app.

2.     Storyluxe

Similar idea to Unfold but has a different, more polaroid theme, and aged looking effect on photos. Their graphics and line art also create a trendy effect.

3.     Over

Similar to Canva, which is also a goodie, has a varied Instagram story template section. Over is great for text graphics, promo pictures, layouts of design as well as photos for an Instagram post/story in terms of a giveaway/competition post.

4.     Hype Type

You are able to animate text and add music to it while creating your own template in the process. How cool is that?!

5.     InShot

Similar to Hype Type, InShot is specifically used for video making. Add snippets of short videos to InShot, with music for background as well as sizing and you good to go! InShot is perfect for creating a long video that can be added to Instagram as an IGTV. Now that’s what we call next level!

6.     Sked Social

Here you can schedule Instagram stories ahead of time! How convenient? In this way, you can plan ahead and not fall behind on posting.

Now before we go onto editing apps. We have a few tips and trends to let you in on. Good lighting is needed for a good photo, but so is good editing. With the right tools, a few tips and a lot of practice you will get there. The high saturated, high contrast photos were HUGE in 2018/2019. But now that 2020 is here (and almost over…), we have seen a drastic change from that to more subtle edits. Reason? It appears to be more authentic, simplistic and of course ,natural. This is also most probably due to the fact that it runs parallel to the “no edit” trend of embracing the imperfect. This trend celebrates diversity and realness while showing faces and bodies in their ‘real, pure and natural form’. Whilst saying this, using photo editing apps to enhance your photos and adjust lightening is often a must and does so without taking the realness away.

7.     Tezza

The secret is out, this app is incredible, and not only can you apply presets available to your photos you can do this to your videos (for your stories) too! The presets are also constantly updated. It’s like having your cake and eating it. Tezza has a ton of frames as well as vintage effects to add to photos/videos. There’s also more to say but just go and see for yourself ;)

8.     VSCO

This photo editing tool is perfect for food photos. It has a ton of filters that enhances your images. Any foodies out there? Give this a try!

9.     Pixlr

An easy photo editing app with tons of pre-sets and tools like ColorSplash.

10.  Lightroom

This is most definitely the most used app for posts and there’s a reason why. A lot of influencers create their own presets to use on Instagram in order to create an aesthetic, personalized theme. A lot of influencers also sell their presets for you to try. Lightroom can be downloaded for free on your phone and the more you play around with the app, the easier it becomes and who knows… you might be creating your very OWN presets after some time!

SO, now that we have provided you with this social cheat sheet for the Top Ten Instagram Apps that we love, you can get started on applying these amazing tech based solutions in order to really sell the business of YOU and create a more holistic and well rounded page. In the wake of success, let these apps help you create the Instagram page of your dreams.
