We recognise the devastating effects that #SAUnrest has had on our friends and family around the country - and we at People Have Influence felt incredibly helpless and decided that as a company we did not want to go silent, nor do we want to become a platform that continued sharing the devastation… (since the news is already saturated with negative stories) so we sat around to think "How can we help using the resources we have and the voice that we have?"
We decided that instead of sitting around feeling helpless, instead of going silent, we wanted to BE THE CHANGE and try shift focus from negativity, to realistic optimism.
So we launched... #OneMilOneMonth
Yes it is bold, yes it would mean we would need to unite together to make this happen, but that's what we are all about - making BOLD moves that unite people. Such as launching the first 100% charity campaign in order to raise funds to help for people who have suffered throughout the SA Unrest!
From children who are unable to get to school, to mothers who could not get food or formula, to orphans, to entrepreneurs, to workers, to delivery drivers, to the mama that spent her life building her start up business - having to watch it being ripped apart - we want to help... but we can't do it on our own.
> We wanted to start thinking of solutions that ARE in fact, in our control.
So when we thought of how we can use our voice, our platform, as a space in order to help share places to donate, organisations that need help, as ways as that general consumers who are living around KZN or JHB, that need assistance
And we launched... #OneMilOneMonth
Yes, a campaign to RAISE ONE MILLION RAND IN ONE MONTH!!!!!
It may seem unreachable, but all we would need is 2000 people to join the campaign and donate R500 in order to reach the 1 Million Mark!
A few findings:
Problem: We realised there are a lot of people who also feel very helpless and want to help but don't know how or where to start
Solution: Let's create the path, in a simple way, to enable people to get involved and help no matter where they are in the world
Problem: We realised that people no longer TRUST in many government organisations / NPO's as legit and do not feel comfortable donating without WHO or WHERE the money is going
Solution: Let's create our OWN bank Charity Account PURELY for this campaign, share every IN and OUT with everyone involved to be as transparent as possible in showing those who get involved, that ALL the money we receive - goes straight out to incredible organisations that WE have personally vetted
Problem: People who donate, do not get credit for doing good
Solution: Let's THANK every single person who has donated, by gifting them a token of our appreciation for being involved. So we decided to create P.H.I. custom warm, black beanies to send to each and every single person that donates R500! We have taken this cost on as a company and this will not be taken from the R500 donation from each and every contributor. As well as, the delivery of these gifts will also not come out of the donation bucket as we have an incredible delivery partner on board who is sponsoring the delivery of the gifts to all the donors - a special shout out to QUENCH for jumping on board with us!
